Eating local in the dark - the roolz

Welcome local farmies*! 

I'm so excited that you are considering doing the winter local eating challenge!  You won't be disappointed, but you should be well fed!

Here are the rules of the challenge:

1. The challenge will begin on Thursday, January 1st 2009 and ends on Sunday, February 1st.  Your challenge: prepare one meal each week using only locally grown ingredients (this can include produce, meats and dairy - if you're lucky!) - the exceptions are vinegar, oil, salt and pepper, and spices
2. For this challenge "Local" means (at best) within 250 miles of your home (if not possible - use your best local judgement - within your state, your region etc...)
3. On SUNDAY of every week during the challenge, you will email a photo of your meal and a description of what you ate and where it came from and any other details you'd like to share about your experience - Did you get to visit a great farm, how was the meal, did you share your local eats with loved ones?
4. On MONDAY you can come to the site to see all of the photos and write-ups of all of the challenge participants

 This means that the first entry will be sent to me on Sunday, January 4th and the last on Sunday, Feb. 1st (5 meals total).

The "Eating local in the dark" challenge starts in about 4 weeks - plenty of time to scope our your local shops for local foods and check your freezers for forgotten summer goods!

well...love the idea but do you really think i am going to remember to take a picture and send...thats a challenge!!
