In theory, when there is something you want badly it ought to indicate a willingness to take whatever lengths necessary to make that thing happen.
In reality, wanting and willingness are separate states of being and on their own are not required of one another. BUT when there is a bridge between me and the thing that I want, the only way to cross that bridge is to have the willingness to move in the direction of my wanting.
This week I am working on becoming willing.
Willing to change behaviors
Willing to change perspective
Willing to believe all things are possible
Willing to believe in miracles
But what does it mean ‘to be willing’? Especially in the face of resistance. Inner resistance, I mean.
To be willing means to be eager or to be prepared to do something (thank you dictionary). I think it also means to be in the spirit of hopefulness and I think it implies a state of motion. Meaning that when you are ‘willing’ you have a hope that there is good reason to try. I think that when you are willing you have already begun to lean forward.
I struggle with a great deal of resistance. I’m finding it difficult even to explain what I mean. My brain is resisting exploring this topic! {{honest. I just walked away from my computer for 20 minutes because my entire spirit resisted going on with this}}
Author Steven Pressfield would tell me this is a good sign.
Where there is a Dream, there is Resistance – Steven Pressfield
It is the way in which the world seeks to balance. For every light side there is a dark side. The fact that you feel resistance is a giant indication that “there is a powerful, original dream close by”
The task is always to overcome resistance.
The way is to be willing to do so again and again.
